Boilermaking

Email from Dad: The cranes on top off The World Trades Fair buildings in New York
I helped build, as a Boilermaker, the 6 cranes built by Favelle & Coles on Botany Rd, when we lived at 707/3 Florence Ave Roseberry? (Geo Check ??)
The cranes cost $1million Aussie dollars each
Eric Favelle, designed them after seeing Professor Julius Sumner Miller demonstrate how Balls rolling down an incline could counter balance loads. At that time cranes were notoriously dangerous for 'whiplash' due to high winds causing the booms to 'over balance' and collapse.
The cranes were 'nicknamed' 'Kangaroo' due to their almost surreal likeness to a roo standing erect with narrow long strong legs counterbalanced tail with paws and head.
