Hi Lisa
Thanks so very much for making the CD (or is it a
DVD?) of the songs. Good to hear them together. I'm particularly
pleased about the Schehallion song, as my lovely cousin John Watson, was
a mountain climber, and climbed every mountain in Scotland over the
years, and the last one he climbed was just after he had been diagnosed
with terminal cancer, and that was Schehallion. For Scots that mountain
has some magic attached to it. It's also very close to where my lovely
granny Jean Cameron's, (married to a Craig) Dad Donald (recorded as Daniel) was born.
After
the famous battle of Culloden, where the Scots were defeated, the
Cameron's fled to this very remote place near Schehallion, and there's a
famous legend-like story which connects them with the mountain.
(Apologies here as I think I've told you about this anyway). So to have
that song on CD is just great.
I do have other
songs, some Scottish some not, and I want to get in touch with Phil to
make a CD of them all, which I do want to pay for. I don't want to have
him do all that work for nothing. In any case, I might have other songs
in the future, I want to record to. I know it might be costly, but Dad and I are willing to pay. I'm aware he is a very busy man, so I will be happy to wait till he has time.
All
this I can discuss with him, but I seem to have lost my email contact
for Phil, and can't find it on my iPad, for as you know I'm
technologically challenged. If you give me Phil's email I'll get in
touch.
The other thing I'm doing right now, is
trying to finish the stuff I've been writing about my work in the
schools of North West New South Wales, implementing the Non-Sexist
Education Policy developed by the Labour Govt, as well as work on Child
Protection Aboriginal Education, and Student Welfare, policies.
I'm
also writing about my work, representing the NSW Department of
Education, on the attempt to create a National Curriculum in 1991-2.
Also
my work in NSW Health, based at Parramatta, but servicing a huge area,
from Auburn up to Mount Druitt, Castle Hill, Wentworthville, and may
other areas. It included working with many agencies that was to reduce
alcohol problems, and smoking. The smoking project was really very, very
successful. The alcohol one did help to reduce drink driving, and other
harms, but not nearly as successful as the smoking one. Sadly the
alcohol one seems to have slipped back, and smoking is going the same
way in the last couple of years.
So I do have a
lot I want to do, and I don't always put my head down and work on them,
but I' do what I can when I can, and let it roll.
So
thanks Lisa, at least my songs are there in the CD. They might be a
nice wee memory for my great, great great grandchildren when I'm gone!
Ha, ha. They'll be saying what Scottish whisky was she drinking' wi that
yin!
Must go. It's getting late. Lets have a
morning or afternoon tea, just you and I when You have time from your
busy life. Thanks again for all your love and help with the various
things .
Lots of Love and hugs
Mum
