Mum's work

Me and one of my training sessions.
Hi girls thought you might like this. It's a photo of one of the training sessions I held for TAFE counsellors
from various local colleges, when I working as the Drug and Alcohol consultant for Westmead Hospital.

I was based at Cumberland Hospital. I also trained doctors, nurses, dentists, and police in prevention. work.
It included working with all the Community Health Centres in the areas covered by the hospital, including Auburn, Mt Druit, Parramatta, Castle Hill, and Merrylands.and other I can't recall.

There was heaps of travelling involved. but that was nothing compared to the massive travelling I did in the north west of NSW., where I covered a few hundred schools, and involved not only training teachers, in Drug and Alcohol issues for schools, but also the Non Sexist Policy, and other linked policies, but holding information sessions for P& C's, and other community groups, and amazingly the Regional Directors, and Inspectors of schools.
I was terrified at the beginning, having little confidence, but I got a great wrap up by the last director, who wrote to me after I left.  I moved on to travelling all over the country as as a Consultant on the 1991 attempt to get a National Curriculum. There's been more than one attempt at that, but it never comes to fruition, for the states can never agree.

I also worked a lot with the Aborginal community, and partnered the Aboriginal Consultant, in presnting a number of courses to train Aboriginal people to be employed as consultants on their own community edcation needs

I could write a book if I had time!!! But even I wouldn't believe the adventures and misadventures I had in those days!!!
