Dad has passed away (July 2022) but his love, generosity and the contribution he made to his family and his community live on. He was a much loved husband of Ellie, Father of Lisa and Dianne, Father-in-law of John, Grandparent of Megan and Cameron and his partner Michelle and proud great grandfather of Phoenix. Loved and loving Son of Eliza (passed), Brother of Billy (Larbert, Scotland) and John (passed) and Linda (passed) and many nephews and nieces in Scotland.
Dad loved his family history research, a love that started with him talking to his Mum Eliza (Maw) when she started living with him and Ellie in Merrylands.
This blog captures all the emails, research he sent to the family over the years. Some of it is research, some his wonderings and thoughts and others were emails he sent that show his ongoing love for us all. Most I have not edited and so they may be unformatted and more note like. However Dad's humour, vision and most of all the importance to him, of family, workers rights and community shines through.
He was pretty chuffed when we printed this into a book format and gave it to him on his birthday in 2020. The first pandemic wave was upon us, where visits were limited and outdoors and so printing of this gave him a lot of joy re-reading what he had written. He laughed uproariously upon opening it and in amazement said of the 350 plus paged book ' Did I write all this!! and then shed some happy tears. Finally a 'published' author of sorts.
PS. Sometimes he wrote in Scottish - some advice - don't ask Siri to translate as it is the only accent Siri cannot understand!
