The Cottage was split into two flats. Egon & Inga & baby Ralph (Surname??) had the smaller flat on the LHS looking at the photo. We had the rhs where you see the front/side entry.
The story of how we got the flat was dye to a tragedy! Ie., Eleanor was popping round to the newsagents in the street at the back and parallel to Havelock Ave, Coogee, on a regular basis putting ads into the newspaper asking for rental accommodation.
The newsagents daughter, who was getting married, said to Eleanor, ' are you still looking for another flat? Mum said 'yes', to which the young woman said, 'I might be able to help'.
Her Aunt owned a flat that the young woman was going into, as a newly wed. As it happened, her husband was killedby a lightening strike on the 'Australian'???golf club (just up from the Housing Commission flats in Eastlakes, that we would occupy a few years later at 707/3 Florence Avenue, which was a few years before we bought the old wreck of a place at 21 Queen St Beaconsfield in ca 1969, and in 1970, when I started Teaching Boilermaking/Welding at Harris St Ultimo in February 1970.
