I, George Forrest Ellis was born- (Birth: 1943 8.30am at 52 High St-Bonnybridge STI SCT)
I married Eleanor Polland (in August 1963 and we both migrated to Sydney Australia on 12? Dec 1963. Arriving in the ship MV Fairsky, Arriving in Sydney Harbour, 13? Jan 1963, some 3months before my 21st Birthday on 19 April 1963, some few months prior to our first daughter, Lisa Maree Ellis born at Criwn St Sydney. We lived in Flat 1/12-????? Havelock Avenue, Coogee.
Lisa was the first of our two lovely daughters ( Dianne Lynne was 2 years later when we shifted to 707/3 Florence Avenue, Eastlakes in a new Housing Commision flat. This was a few years prior to us buying an old house in Beaconsfield, where we renovated prior to my appointment as a metal fabricator/ welder teacher at Sydney Technical College in Feb?? 1970. ( my dream job)

Maw has told me [6/3/95] that my first name[George] was named after my dad. And I think Dad [George Reid Ellis] was named, in the Scottish naming tradition, after his grandfather, George Reid!
My middle name [Forrest] was Maw’s maiden name.

Left school wth a piece of paper stating 'George Ellis attended Denny HS' So much for my academic prowess, although my family
chided me with 'Professor' owing to my ‘obvious’ latent academic
ability. Went to Burnbank Foundry Trades centre (Bainsford Falkirk) when
I finished School at Denny HS) for 4 years and topped the class
Sheetmetalwork course. Came second to Mike Strain in my last year when we transferred to the new Falkirk Tech on the Grangemouth Rd. Put that down to Mike being 2-3 years older than me and being a full-time 'Sheetie' whereas I was only doing it at "tech', falling in love (with Ms Eleanor Polland-Ellie), getting married and
migrating to AUS off-course had no effect on my form reversal! I!!!!!!
also failed my final City & Guilds. But had an 'intermediate' certificate.
Getting married and migrating, saving money and studying drained a lot of energy. But, it was worth every ounce of sweat and funding, to be migrating with the lady I still love, as well as the lovely family since then.

( in mv Fairsky of the Sitmar Line)Landed in "OZ" 13/1/64 (Sydney
harbour, under the shadow of our famous Harbour Bridge (designed and
made by Scots bridge builders) and after various jobs (see@R1) I studied
at Evening School for School Cert. and Higher School Certs at Cleveland
HS, Kurri Kurri HS and Newcastle Tech
over the period 1971-73.
Went to UNE 74, got BA -after on/off study - in 86??, M.Litt. in 1992 and Grad Dip Eco Hist in 1995.
So being called 'Professor' early on must have done the trick!!
Marriage: 16 Aug 1963 Armidale SCT Methodist Church Main St Armidale
Scotland. We married in this church because we didn't want married in RC
church, even tho Eleanor's Dad a catholic was against us doing so (Eleanor's Mum's (Jenny's parents family were Methodists ) married Dan
Polland her dad was RC.
He reluctantly came to our wedding after Eleanor's Mum made him see the light? It was touch and go, up until very close to the date.
After a few weeks (we had already booked our migrants Australian
passage some months prior to marriage), we sailed from Southampton,
after training from Edinburg to London, staying a few nights with
Eleanor's cousin, Danny Healy and his wife Fahmee. We then trained to
Southampton, boarding the mv Fairsky

Ellie, in the the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, after studying Matriculation subjects at Kurri Kurri Evening College and then at Newcastle TAFE, graduated from Newcastle University with a BA (Honors)
Degree. She then taught part time at various local Hunter Valley High Schools until given a full time job at Toronto, circa1985.
In 1986, when I got a promotion to
Principal at Tenterfield TAFE, Ellie in January 1997 started as a
Non-Sexist Education Consultant in the Dept of School Education for the
North West Region of NSW. This region would comfortably fit Great Britain a number of times within its boundaries.

How did George Forrest Ellis's dad get his name George Reid Ellis?
It is thought that it was after his grandfather George Reid of Bathgate, on Dad’s mother’s side.
However, on page 103 of the Bathgate Mortality Records 1860-1925 Book, there is mention of a George R. Kerr.
Now I could also speculate that since dad’s brother, John Kerr Ellis was named [again I am speculating here] after John Kerr, a neighbour of Dad’s grandfather Robert, whose wife Mary Arnott died in childbirth.
My speculation leads me to think that John Kerr and possibly his wife looked after Robert’s kids, Including
Dad’s father William, Then out of sheer gratitude Dad’s dad named son
John, John Kerr and possibly Dad after another Kerr ie George Kerr as
mentioned in the Bathgate book. This is a long shot!

Dad born at Stewart Ave Bo’ness. I have photos of this Ave from my 1998 trip but do not know the address.
GFE's, Aunt Mary, dad’s oldest sister, had her eye badly damaged when
dad, as a 5 or 6 year old threw a packet of needles up to her at an open
window in the house, damaging her eye.
This was at Marchlands Ave , which was a 3 bedroom house, where the family lived before Dad's elder sister, Merryn Ellis and her husband, Jim Stevenson moved to
Echt, (Nth Scotland, near Aberdeen, where Jim had a job managing the Coop store.
Dad, his father and older brother Jim and Merryn
and husband Jim lived at Marchlands Ave Bo'ness. This was a few years
after Dad came back from Canada( Just about the set in of the World
Wide, 1930's, Great Depression Dad had been jilted by Nellie Anderson. Dad and Nellie, got a house and they were to get furniture. Nellie went to Canada with her mother and came back with a fur coat. All from the proceeds of the house furniture savings!
Dad was told this by some person in Bo’ness and the story was relayed to
GFE's, Maw( Eliza Ellis, ms. Forrest, by Dad!s, sister in law,
GFE'sAunt Charlotte!( married to Dad's elder 4, John Kerr Ellis.
Dad's sister, Merryn, was a very outspoken person. She spoke out about Dad’s drinking. Dad and brother Jim were both jilted.
Whether this added to their drinking can be guaged by their saying,
‘Mary [their eldest sister] was the best of tartan’. Mary being a bit
less critical of them than Merryn.
Maw went down there in 1939 when Ishbell, daughter of Aunt Merryn and her husband Jim lived there.
Uncle Jim still lived there after Meryn and husband moved to Echt. Maw saw Dad’s Dad and family
approximately 6 weeks before Maw and Dad got married on 29 Dec 1939. (Note WW2 started Sept 1939.)
Jim, Dad’s older brother John and his
wife Charlotte married long before Ishbell was born. They lived at
Deanfield Drive.They moved much later when their family grew up, they
moved to a smaller flat.
Aunt Charlotte, commenting upon the bad way that dad treated oor Maw, ‘Liza, you’re suffering for Nellie
Anderson jilting Dad;.
Nellie Anderson bought dad the little brown case that Maw now has which has dad’s initials ‘GFE’ embosed in it.
In 1952 a couple came to Bonnybridge. and asked Maw and Dad to their Silver Wedding anniversary ie 25 years from
1936/7.
Dad was the best man at that time. So Dad was back in Scotland ca 1936/7. Dad had met the man at
Sunnyside. Foundry [Camelon!] The wedding reception [or was it the anniversary that Maw was talking about!]
was held at the Begg (Locally known as, 'Bog'-after the fact that the
ground was 'boggy?')Hall Camelon just near the Railway before turning
down to Aunt Marions place at the Golf Club.

George [Senior], her husband, had boarded with Miss Jessie Mitchell and her batchelor brother ????
who
owned the Broomhill Iron Foundry just before the bridge at High Bonnybridge STI SCT, at 'Roselea'
Cottage
whilst working at Smith and Wellstood as an Iron Stove Fitter, where he
met Eliza who was working in the chrome plating and also at the cast
iron drilling department.
-They then were 'forced' to move because George and his brother Jim got drunk and the landlord disapproved.
They were given a day?? to move and mum with new born son Billy moved to Mrs Hannah's at 25 Bonnyside
Rd for 3 months. They then moved to the 'new' place which was an old farm workers cottage belonging to
Millers farm adjacent to the Mitchell and Russell [Chattan Foundry]
higher up Bonnyside Rd from 'Roselea' Cottage and just below the lower
Glasgow -Edinburgh railway line, which in itself was immediately next to
the Forth and Clyde Canal. Running from Near Glasgow to Edinburgh area.
This canal connected the two major East & West Scots ciities. This
Also allowed continental Europe to ship through Scotland to other world
ports(that was the intention to a certain point, but never really
achieved that goal?
